Hamel Bombers win 2011 Mauer Cup Tournament

The Hamel Bombers went 7 and 0 en route to a championship in the 2nd Annual Mauer Cup Tournament.

The charitable event raises money for St.Judes Children Fund and this year’s event raised $25,000. Hamel Baseball is very proud to be a part of this event and winning the event was icing on the cake.

The team was led by pitchers Dalton Seez and Ben Leuthner who each had a record of 3-0 in the tournament. Strong defense and clutch hitting throughout the tourney played a big part in bringing home the title.

In the Championship game against Plymouth/New Hope, the Bombers tooks a 1-0 lead in the first inning. With one out, Ben Leuthner was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a base hit by Bronson McLeod for the only run the Bombers would need. Behind great team defense and the pitching of Dalton Seez, the Bombers closed out the Championship with a 4-0 win.

This was a great event and the Bombers are proud to bring the Mauer Cup to Hamel.
