Team 4 (Blue) wins 2016 Rookie Tournament

The 5 Hamel Rookie teams squared off in the first annual season ending double-elimination Rookie Tournament on Lighted Field. The Royals kicked off the action with walk-off winner over the Rockies in first Friday afternoon game. The Royals played another thriller under the lights that evening, but it was Rookie Red that went to bed with the win. On Saturday morning, The Dodgers advanced to the championship game with a bases-loaded game ending triple play in the bottom of the last inning over the Mariners to secure a 3-2 win. Down 4-5 in the top of the final inning, the Dodgers plated 3 runs thanks to a bases-loaded triple and were able to hold off the Team Red in the bottom half of the frame for a 7-5 victory. The coach was summarily doused in the dunk tank at the Quad courtesy of multiple team members afterwards. Smiles and excitement were shared by all teams.
